BMW iX5 Refueling

BMW introduced the iX5 hydrogen vehicle in the first on-road demonstration of hydrogen vehicles in South Africa. Elemental Energy worked with Air Products South Africa and Sasol to set up and operate a remote refueling station using a large tube trailer, high-pressure booster system and Elemental Energy’s mobile storage unit. The entire site was powered by Elemental Energy’s H2IPO using hydrogen to generate electical power.

Vehicle refueling was established for BMW’s Hydrogen iX5.
A remote refueling station was set up in collaboration with Air Products and Sasol.
The compression and refueler were off-grid, powered only by the H2IPO running on hydrogen.
Vehicles were driven by energy industry and public sector leaders.
