ECO ESTATE

As part of a larger plan for decarbonisation, a leading eco-estste and hospitality hub (farm-to-table restaurant, wine-tasting, farm store, wedding venue and substantial on-site accommodation) has installed a system to power their guest cottages. This replaces the use of a diesel generator that had been backing up the site due to bad grid reliability. The site now has a ceiling/limit on max. grid draw and can power the cottages with a hybrid battery and hydrogen system when needed.

The eco-estate is a leader in regenerative farming and is a critical part of the local community.
The system backs up the power grid supplying the guest cottages using battery and hydrogen fuel-cell.
We have replaced a diesel generator with a clean and silent alternative that gives reliable power supply.
An electrolyser is being set up on the property, powered with solar to provide the hydrogen for the backup systems.

PROCONICS WORKSHOP

A leading engineering company installed H2IPO to run backup power for their workshop in Sasolburg, South Africa. The system protects the workshop from intermittent grid supply and limits the peak grid draw. They previosly ran a diesel generator. They now run silent backup power with reduced carbon emissions and reduced total energy spend.

The Elemental Energy system replaces an existing diesel generator used for regular grid failure events.
The workshop sees no energy downtime when the grid cuts, with the site islanded.
Hydrogen is delivered in MCPs, replaced as needed (depending on severity of grid supply cuts).

BMW iX5 REFUELING

BMW introduced the iX5 hydrogen vehicle in the first on-road demonstration of hydrogen vehicles in South Africa. Elemental Energy worked with Air Products South Africa and Sasol to set up and operate a remote refueling station using a large tube trailer, high-pressure booster system and Elemental Energy’s mobile storage unit. The entire site was powered by Elemental Energy’s H2IPO using hydrogen to generate electical power.

Vehicle refueling was established for BMW’s Hydrogen iX5.
A remote refueling station was set up in collaboration with Air Products and Sasol.
The compression and refueler were off-grid, powered only by the H2IPO running on hydrogen.
Vehicles were driven by energy industry and public sector leaders.

MADIKWE 5-STAR SAFARI LODGE

A five-star safari lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve had been running on grid with a diesel generator back-up delivering 2-4 hours of energy daily and increasing due to grid issues. Elemental installed a 100kW H₂IPO, upgrading their energy mix to solar & grid backed up by the hybrid battery and hydrogen system. The system maximises the use of Solar PV and minimises peak load from the grid.
Hydrogen is produced by Elemental Energy at an electrolysis site outside the Game Reserve and delivered to the lodge.

Elemental energy produces hydrogen by electrolysis outside of the Game Reserve, and delivers to the site in trailer mounted pressurised cylinders.
The HIPO Installed to provide the on-site micro-grid capability and replace the existing diesel generation at the Lodge.
The H₂IPO system is a fully integrated solution that maximises the Solar PV use, limits grid peak draw and peak-time energy use.
When the Hydrogen Fuel cell is needed to back up power output, it generates hot water as a by-product which feeds the rooms and pools with heat.
