Powering Emission-Free Construction in Amsterdam – Volker Wessels
Amsterdam took another step toward cleaner and more sustainable construction with a pioneering hydrogen-powered charging trial led by VolkerWessels, in collaboration with KWS Infra and the AMS Institute.
As part of this project, we supplied our H₂IPO power hub, enabling the charging of heavy electric equipment using green hydrogen. This solution offered a practical, zero-emission alternative to diesel generators while easing pressure on Amsterdam’s already congested electricity grid.
By delivering reliable, on-site hydrogen power, the trial demonstrated how construction sites can become cleaner, quieter and significantly lower in CO₂ emissions—helping accelerate the shift toward fully emission-free building practices.
This collaboration marked an important step toward a climate-neutral city and showcased how innovative partnerships can drive real progress in sustainable construction.
