Jaci’s Safari Lodge
Providing Clean, Reliable Energy to a Five-Star Safari Lodge
Jaci’s Lodges in the Madikwe Game Reserve had long relied on a diesel generator to support the national grid, which faces prolonged daily outages and increasing instability.
Elemental Energy installed a 100 kW H₂IPO system, transforming the lodge’s energy mix into a solar-and-grid hybrid supported by a fully integrated battery and hydrogen backup solution. The system maximises the use of solar power, reduces dependence on the grid, and replaces diesel with clean, reliable hydrogen power.
Elemental Energy produces hydrogen through electrolysis at a facility outside the reserve and delivers it to the lodge in custom-built trailer-mounted pressurised cylinders.
With the H₂IPO in place, the lodge now benefits from full on-site microgrid capability, eliminating the need for diesel generation. When the hydrogen fuel cell is activated, it not only reinforces power output but also generates hot water as a by-product—providing heat for guest rooms and pools while ensuring a stable, sustainable energy supply.
